D. Michael G. Stewart, Director
Mr. Stewart is the principal of the Ballinacurra Group, a privately held group of companies involved with Western Canadian energy section investments and energy infrastructure project consulting. He also serves on the Boards of Directors of TransCanada Corporation, Pengrowth Corporation, the administrator of Pengrowth Energy Trust and Northpoint Energy Ltd. Mr. Stewart left Westcoast Energy Inc. in March 2002 effective with the acquisition of Westcoast Energy by Duke Energy Corporation. Prior to his departure, Mr. Stewart was Executive Vice President, Business Development of Westcoast Energy and was responsible for the development of Westcoast Energy's power, international and major new projects. He also held the following positions with subsidiary and affiliate companies: President of Westcoast Energy International Inc.; Chairman of Westcoast Power Inc.; Chairman of the Management Committee of Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline Limited Partnership; and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Foothills Pipelines Ltd. Before joining Westcoast Energy in September 1993 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Westcoast Gas Services Inc., Mr. Stewart held a number of executive positions with companies involved in the energy, fertilizer and sulphur businesses. Mr. Stewart graduated from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences. He is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta.
